In May of 2020, Trust Montana, Agrarian Trust, and Vilicus Training Institute partnered to establish the Montana Agrarian Commons. The Commons is a 501(c)25 that will hold land, longterm-lease it to farmers, and ensure the land is stewarded responsibly. As more Montana farmers and ranchers approach retirement age, and land prices increase, the Montana Agrarian Commons will work to ensure land is accessible to beginning farmers.
