A trustee of the O.P. and W.E. Edwards Foundation approached NeighborWorks Montana to conduct this feasibility study for a statewide CLT. The Study’s intent was to explore ways to address the need for long-term land stewardship in areas where no entities were available or willing to receive donations of land or money to purchase land that could be held permanently in trust. Given Montana’s vast size and largely rural character, finding organizations with the capacity to address the land and housing needs of its many far-flung small communities is challenging. NeighborWorks Montana contracted with the North Missoula Community Development Corporation to help research the feasibility of a statewide entity to address these challenges.
